The average work group now has at least three different generations working together. On the surface, we may look past age and focus on the employee. However, our age and our
generation heavily influence work ethic, communication, and employee satisfaction and engagement. In this presentation, we will explore some generational differences and considerations for the workplace. In addition, we will identify strategies for becoming an effective intergenerational leader.
This course is also offered for independent contributors with modifications for those who are not in a leadership position.
In March of 2020, Forbes published an article on invisible disabilities and reported that over 42 million Americans have a severe disability, and 96% of them are unseen. The CDC reports that 1 in 4 Americans live with a disability, again, many are unseen. Examples of invisible disabilities include post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury, hearing impairments, diabetes, ADHD, Crohn’s disease, and fibromyalgia. Oftentimes, people with these disabilities find ways to adapt to their disability or may not even recognize that what they struggle with is a disability.
This session will focus on learning what invisible disabilities are and what we need to understand to better support those living with them.
Remember the last time you had a hard day at work? Yeah, that day. Most of us look back on those days and we feel tired, overwhelmed, or maybe even helpless. What can we do about it? What should we do? Unfortunately, many of us find ourselves feeling unprepared, inadequate, and entirely burned out. The reality is that that if we are going to do challenging work, we are going to need to learn how that work impacts us and what we can do to avoid the negative consequences of stress and trauma.
Life is hard. Let’s spend some time learning how to manage difficult people, feelings, and experiences without falling apart ourselves. We will explore how hard days impact us and gain strategies and skills to improve resilience.
Typically, our minds think of loss due to death when we think of grief. However, there are many different types of loss and corresponding grief. In this presentation, we will explore the concept of grief with a focus on the types of loss we have experienced over the last several years. Learn what assumptive loss and grief is and strategies for managing the many losses we have had and continue to experience.
The average adult has made only one new friend in the last five years. Many have lost connection with friends, family, and our community for a variety of reasons and feel more isolated and lonelier than ever. With effort and tools, we can reconnect and overcome loneliness. In this presentation we will identify what causes us to feel lonely and how we increase connection to overcome isolation.
Most people would likely agree that they would prefer to avoid conflict or “difficult”
conversations. However, if we reframe how we see conflict and gain some tools to help guide us, we can stop avoiding conflict and start resolving or even avoiding issues. We will explore these things and learn practical skills to help us engage in more effective direct conversations.
1 in 2 adults will meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis at some point in their life. As the prevalence is so high, the conversation really isn’t about the “rare” instances where people are struggling. Instead, we shift and recognize that mental health is much more of a “we” issue. During this presentation, we will explore neurodiversity and what it means to be neurodivergent. From here, we will dive in and explore two of the most experienced disorders, anxiety and depression to increase awareness of symptoms and learn strategies to manage these effectively.
